The unraveling of our presidential debates, and our entire national political discourse, are a direct result of failed stewardship of a corrupt Commission on Presidential Debates created in 1987 by the Democratic and Republican Parties to take the debates away from the League of Women Voters.
For too long, the official-sounding “Commission” has gotten away with protecting the two-party duopoly’s power by shutting down any independent and third party competition.
When 76% of the electorate wants open debates, but this unaccountable gatekeeper stands in their way, it falls to We the People to assert our fundamental rights to learn about all of our ballot choices.
Poll after poll shows that 40% of the electorate considers themselves politically independent, 2/3 want a third party and easier paths for independent and third party candidates to win office, 9/10 want to move beyond the divisiveness of our current hyperpartisan atmosphere.
The people are with us. We just have to get organized. It’s time for all of us who are fed up with the duopoly’s debate fraud scheme to come together, work together, and fight, TOGETHER, to open the debates to all ballot-qualified candidates.
Let’s make 2020 the year we break through the duopoly’s fortress of protection.
1,000 donations at an average of $27 will mean we can on-board organizers for the final stretch of Election 2020.
1,000 volunteers will mean we will be able to blanket small media markets with effective letters-to-the-editor and op-eds and other earned media placement to inject a nonpartisan/cross-partisan message of genuine voter education into the national conversation.
The duopoly and its associated political industrial complex won’t be able to keep the lid on this growing movement. Our voice will get out there, and once it does, it won’t ever be bottled up again.
The fight starts now. Join for victory! Donate whatever you can afford. Every dollar will be an investment in opening up our political system to new ideas, fresh voices, and better choices. Every hour you put in will get us closer to reaching the supermajority of U.S. voters who want to open the political system to more voices and better choices.
If we’re going to break through the noise, we need 1,000 donors and 1,000 volunteers to sign up by October 15, 2020, which was supposed to be the day of the second presidential debate in Miami, Florida. Instead, voters will get dueling duopoly town hall events that will continue to serve duopoly interests over the public interest.
