Mission, Vision, & Strategy

Mission

To open the political debates of our nation to all ballot-qualified candidates, at every level of government.

Vision

We seek to elevate the political discourse in the United States toward meaningful discussion and debate about the issues, challenges, policies, and solutions we need to make progress together as a nation. We envision a robust political system of diverse voices, better choices, and a government that is responsive to and representative of its people.

Strategy

We will:

  • build a cross-partisan grassroots movement that will stand up for fundamental democratic principles
  • reframe the conversation through earned media, social sharing, direct and creative action, and strategic partnerships
  • force accountability on all decision-makers who can influence the nature of the debates, including the duopoly candidates.
  • focus our efforts on the highest leverage moments with a credible chance of concretely advancing the cause of robust, open debates.
  • create the conditions for political transformation.

How we’ll do it:

  • organize around local, state, and national debate exclusions
  • carry out pressure campaigns through petitions, op-eds, letters to the editor, influencer endorsements, explainer videos, “bird-dogging” candidates early in the process, protests, sit-ins, sponsor boycotts, and publicity stunts
  • expose and shame decision-makers and gatekeepers who are working to keep independent voices out of the conversation
  • collaborate with the truly nonpartisan groups working on voter education, voter engagement, and electoral reform to build inclusive election narratives.
  • shine a bright light on the fundamental and widely-held principles that
    • our democratic republic is healthiest with a well-informed electorate and
    • voters deserve to learn about all of the choices on their ballot.
